With its core DNA forged in the cosmopolitan streets of Lisbon, we couldn’t just confine BICAChair to indoor spaces: it also belongs to the outside.
That’s why we decided to maintain its original anti-corrosive feature, applying a modern technique that provides it with the ability to resist up to 20 years in the toughest outdoor conditions.
The BICAChair passes through a galvanizing process that involves the application of a thin layer of metallic zinc to the substrate base metal, which gives it an anti-corrosion resistance that can reach 10 years . This process enables a superior adhesion of paint due to its rough finish, achieving a 5x higher product longevity in comparison to chemical treatments.
Despite its pleasant aesthetics lied on simplicity, BICAChair is a symbol of pure functionality. One thing that remains impressive, still today, is the fact that every elegant curve was designed with a very specific purpose.
One of those was the ability to stack several chairs, so that café owners could simply store their outdoor furniture in limited spaces. Years of prototyping, testing multiple metal alloys and shapes, yielded a proven design that allows for up to 5 chair stacked in a single pile.
